l myself have disagreed with a few of the annual awards over the last few years but l thought it was a case of it would be hard to pick anything else than what they picked for the 2008 awards in my eyes.

Does anyone disagree if so what would of been your choices.

Fight of the year - Margarito Vs Cotto
KO of the year - Holt Vs Torres, Rnd 1
Fighter of the year - Manny Pacquiao
Upset of the year - Manny Pacquiao Vs Oscar De La Hoya
Comeback of the year - Vitali Klitshcko
Round of the year - R.Marquez Vs Vasquez 3, Round 4

Hard to argue with the list, but l think Hopkins vs Pavlik should have been the Comeback of the year fight. To bounce back from the Calzaghe loss to beat a fighter like Pavlik at his age is more of a come back in my book than for Vitali to take a couple years off, then beat Samuel Peters. If Floyd Mayweather comes back & beats Manny Pacquiao does that make him a candidate for ''comeback of the year'' in 2009? What r they coming back from? A Vacation? Since when is ''not fighting'' such a difficult thing to come back from?

Yeah, l guess l disagree with Ring Magazine is idea of what a ''comeback'' is, knocking off a little ring rust is not a ''comeback''. Pazienza coming back from a broken neck to box professionally again is a ''comeback'' or Chavez KOing Meldrick Taylor in the last 10 seconds of the last round after losing every round of the fight is a ''comeback''. Holyfield beating a congenital heart defect to box professionally & winning another title is a ''comeback''.

George Foreman eating cheeseburgers & preaching for a decade then lacing up the gloves again & knocking out Michael Moorer is a ''comeback''. It took Big George 29 fights & 7 years to ''comeback & Ring Magazine expects us to believe Vitali is one fight with Peter is a ''comeback''. l think l disagree with that, l do not think Vitali even deserved a title shot, he did not earn it, it was political, just like Ring putting Vitali is name on that list, & l do not buy into it or agree with it.

Beating Samuel Peter was expected of Vitali, but it was not that big of a deal, Vitali, like Floyd Mayweather never really left, so there was nothing to come back from.

l though Holyfield is win over Valuev was as impressive as Vitali beating Samuel Peter, hell every time Holyfield climbs into the ring pushing 50 it is a ''comeback Evander just wo not go away, he keeps ''coming back''. l think the only way to finally get Holyfield to retire is to put him in the ring with Vitali, that would certainly end any unrealistic hopes Evander may have at another title....or would it? There r a lot of similarities between Saverese & Klitschko, who knows what would happen if the old man got one of the Kitschko is to give him a fight?

l disagree with two things they picked.


Fight of the year- R. Marquez VS Vasquez, it should be the fight of the year. The Ring magazine was blind about that fight. It was so closed, in the last seconds of the last round, R. Marquez was knocked out, & because of that, Vasquez won the match.

Round of the year- R. Marquez VS Vasquez, round 12th. What in the world were they thinking. It was maybe the most intense round this year ever seen. It may not even in the level in the Corrales- Castillo round 9, but it was so awesome, my cousin almost fainted after watching it.

l believe that Hopkins v. Pavlik may have been the upset of the year - not to take anything away from Pac, the way he won was more shocking, but THAT Hopkins was able to shut down Pavlik was more of an upset in my opinion.

l disagree with the FOTY- l gave the FOTY award to Israel Vazquez vs Rafael Marquez

l agree with the KO of the year.

Fighter of the Year- l agree

Upset of the Year- l disagree, l gave it to Hopkins over Pavlik

Comeback of the Year- Bernard Hopkins

Round of the Year- Holt vs Torres Rnd 1 was pretty good.
The Marquez vs Vazquez rounds were also good, l can not complain.

l disagree with the KO of the year. The round itself was very exciting, but that was not a HUGE knockout. Not to mention, there should forever be an asterisk alongside that award, as l do not know that there has ever been a ''KO of the year'' awarded for a headbutt. The right at the end sealed Torres' fate, but the headbutt is what took him out of the fight.

Fight of the year - Margarito Vs Cotto
- The fight was entertaining yes, & rightfully on the shortlist for fight of the year but l just dont see this fight topping the carnage that is Vasquez - Marquez III. Im even inclined to put Pac-man - JMM I l over Margo & Cotto is fight.

KO of the year - Holt Vs Torres, Rnd 1
- Agreed

Fighter of the year - Manny Pacquiao
- Agreed.

Upset of the year - Manny Pacquiao Vs Oscar De La Hoya
- Grand-daddy B-Hop over Kelly Pavlik over this one.

Comeback of the year - Vitali Klitshcko
- Like one other poster said, Ring magazine have a flawed meaning for the word ''comeback''. Bernard Hopkins takes this easy.

Round of the year - R.Marquez Vs Vasquez 3, Round 4
- Agreed on the fight but not on the round. It should be 11 or 12.
