many mexicans are rooting for pacquiao. his fighting style similar to a lot mexican greats. for some reason a lot of mexicans do not like oscar. l asked my spanish teacher about his favorite boxers. he likes pacquiao. then l mentioned mexican greats like julio cesar chavez, marco antonio barrera, erik morales, and juan manuel marquez, and he loves them all. then l said oscar de la hoya, he said no. is it because of his fighting style? or is it because he defeated julio cesar chavez?

julio cesar chavez jr., antonio margarito, erik morales, and jorge arce are supporting manny. they wanna walk pacman to the ring.

because he is mostly about the money!

l wo not get deep into it, and it may sound silly but it is pretty much true.

Many Mexicans(especially those who are citizens of Mexico) feel he is Americanized, all about money and promoting and not about the sport itself. Not a true Mexican.

Now what do you define a true Mexican? Well everyone has their own definition.

By the way, Chavez(SR.) in his prime would completely drill De La Hoya in his prime.

It is because he is from California and basically had a silver spoon in his mouth. The fighters from Mexico are more respected because they had to work real hard to obtain success in the ring. l am not a De La Hoya fan either though.

Oscars a great fighter, but what has been said about many fighters can also be applied to him l am afraid and that is basically, He talks Brown, but he thinks Green.

IT is like anything else. Tinsletown is off limits to normal people. Oscar has always been part of the ''American Dream''. While that is not such a terrible thing, it is just something most people can not relate to. He is TOO American & the CORE of Mexico, as a people, simply Can Not identify with him.

His fighting style is not like the typical Mexican but l do not think they really hold that against him. Salvador Sanchez did not fight like the ''Typical'' Mexican but he was Well Loved & for good reason.

Oscar will smile when it benefits him, Claim Mexico when it benefits him, & do whatever else will benefit him. Mexicans r generally proud when it comes to their way of fighting. The average Mexican would rather die on his shield, Fighting in his traditional way, than to live by someone else is rules.

Oscar is Mexican, genetically, but he is NOT Mexican by heart. He can not identify with the people.

l am Mexican-American like Oscar & am proud to have someone like him to represent the country of Mexico & the United States. My parents who r born in Mexico do not like Oscar as much as say Julio Ceasar Chavez Sr. because Oscar defeated their hero & icon at the time & felt Oscar was not as legendary in Mexico as Chavez Sr.

Most people do not like Oscar (Mexicans) because they feel that Oscar does not represent the everyday mexican people because Oscar is rich & is living in an American (white) type of life. They feel as if Oscar is not a true Mexican like Fernando Vargas, JLC Sr., Antonio Margarito etc. who they believe r true Mexican people who live the Mexican culture & r very proud of being Mexican.

l am proud to call Oscar an idol & some people do not realize that Oscar did live in the ghetto part of California in East Los Angeles California & did struggle to survive in the poor community & now that he is rich he lives far away from that life so the people dislike that. Some or most Mexican fans feel the need to hate on Oscar, but l would much rather have Oscar De La Hoya represent us Mexicans & Mexican Americans than the thugs who say he is not ''a true Mexican'' they have been brainwashed into believing that our ethnicity is meant for low life which l feel is completely wrong.

Simple, Oscar is American and a Mexican fighter from Mexico is Mexican. It stands to reason that if a fighter represents his country, it is a binding with the others who feel that a fighter from the homeland is representing the people of that country. There is nothing ambiguous about where that fighter is heart lies,its with his countrymen.

Because he beat Cesar chavez. Oscar de la hoya says he wants to avenge the mexicans by fighting manny and beating him.

im mexican & l want pacman to win, is not that we hate de la hoya is that we dont like him very much, & believe it or not we love pacquiao, for mexican fan to like u u take on the best there is, u fight like a warrior, in an offensive style of boxing, pacquiao is all that & more, & de la hoya is not. He could have beat trinidad but decided to run, he fights for money, & always seems to lose the big fight. At the end, l think mexicans respect & love to see pacquiao fight more than we dislike de la hoya

And he is one of the people who started this Oscar is not mexican thing. Along with Vargas. What is a mexican? Someone who throws all their money away & is completely broke?(Chavez) Or the person that carries their selvess like a street thug & can not even respect the sport of boxing by acting a fool & taking steroids before a fight & still losing?(Vargas) To me a Mexican is someone who works hard for their families & achieves big things no matter what is in the way. And a kid on food stamps from East L.A did that & alot more.Opening a cancer center in the barrio, a school & gym in East L.A. for our people. If someone says that aint mexican. They dont know what being mexican is all about. Oscar has been a great fighter & businessman & has always respected our people(mexican & american) A true American son. The american dream that l want for me, my kids & my people. Mexican & American.

Because he defeat our national hero in his worst conditions, in a category where he was not a good boxer, when he was tryng to retire and with that mexicans dont like him but now we hate him because he dont want to fight with Margarito and Mexican boxers never are afraid of anyone, and he represent and won a gold medal for USA in the Olympics.
