Manny will lose......

Oscar has rarely had any trouble against any small(er) fighter. The only one probably being Mayweather . And most of the small fighters he has beaten in the past have probably been a fair bit bigger & stronger than Pacquiao.

Although old, & probably not having 12 tough rounds in him, Oscar is hugely powerful, & technically world class. Not only is he much bigger, & stronger than Pacquiao, but he’s also a better boxer.

Oscar’s record at 147 & below is 33 fights, 31 wins, 27 KO. In terms of wins, that’s an 87% KO rating. And l also should add that the only losses r to a peak Tito, when he probably won, & a split to a peak Mosely.


Manny’s fight is similar to Hatton’s. Bullying, overpowering & hurting. He won’t be able to do that against someone as strong as De la Hoya.

It’s not an impossible task.......

It’s not impossible to beat someone vastly bigger than yourself, but it’s very dependant on ur style of fighting, & boxing ability.

When Mayweather moved to 147, he wasn’t fighting as a Welterweight (as in, weighing around the 160 mark). Fighters like himself & Judah would generally fight at around the Welter limit. However, Floyd changed his style remarkably, to fight as a counter punching, slippery, defensive genius. Gone were his days of trying to hurt people. In effect, he went into bouts just trying to score points, & avoid getting hit. If u like, he took the weight/power indifference out of the equation, as he wasn’t there to be hit. Against De la Hoya, he went into the ring weighing 151 pounds. That’s 5 pounds heavier than Manny weighed against David Diaz. Oscar was in the ring close to the super-middle weight limit, hovering around 166. Make no mistakes, if De la Hoya had tagged Mayweather regularly, he would have stopped him. Mayweather won the bout by basically not taking a significant shot all night. He took the weight & power advantage out of the equation.

Even in Oscar we have a good example. Oscar was hugely undersized by Hopkins. The Bernard Hopkins who bullied Kelly Pavlik about at close to light-heavy. Oscar had already struggled, power wise, against Sturm, & the bout was seen as a mismatch of epic proportions. Oscar however was able to keep Hopkins at bay for a lot of the fight with his classy jab. Sure, Hopkins eventually got to him, & hurt him, but Oscar boxed Hopkins beautifully in that bout, & was even leading on a card when he got stopped. Would have been one of the great upsets if he had won. Hopkins was none too keen on the proposed re-match, showing u what an easy time he had…

Manny’s problem is his style of fighting. Don’t get me wrong, he’s a classy fighter, but he isn’t very hard to hit. Marquez had a field day with him in their last bout, from range. Manny generally keeps people away from him because of his KO threat. His ability to avoid a punch is seriously questionable. Oscar has walked through Tito, Mosely, so Pacquiao’s power will be no repellent. He’ll be after Manny from round one, & Manny isn’t slick enough to avoid taking shots. Which will be his downfall.

Again, these fights can be competitive, & even winnable, if the smaller fighter avoids taking shots. Manny aint that sort of animal though

hopefully Pacman wins. but, odlh is just too big for manny. It will probably be like Trinidad/Hopkins.. when a great boxer goes above his weightclass and suffers bigtime. Ive always been a Trinidad fan, and was sad when he lost to Hopkins.

my fingers are crossed for manny. Ive always felt like odlh has some questionable wins in his career (Felix Strum) and imho is a tad overrated.

l agree with the above , de la hoya is naturally too big for pac man, just as b-hop was too big for oscar.

unless making the weight drains de la hoya, oscar takes it.

Manny Pacquiao will win in a 11th round knockout
