yes. its true. they would rub beef brine on their face. it was thought to toughen their skin, thus reducing the chance of cuts. some would also rub salt water from the ocean on their face. jack dempsey made the beef brine technique popular. however some old time trainers believe it was all b.s. and there was nothing you could do to toughen facial skin.

they used to use brine. but let me ask you this. how does it make sense to use brine to toughen ones skin when brine is used to make meet softer for eating? It seems obvious why this practice was abandoned. first this does not work and second doing so only ages your skin faster
