September 29, 1941. Polo Grounds. Live gate of over 550K, huge for 1941. Louis won on a KO in 6 rounds. Arthur Donovan was referee. Betting odds were tighter on this fight than almost any of Louis' other title defenses, as Louis was just coming off a come-from-behind 13th round KO of Billy Conn. Many experts thought Louis was ringworn, as he had engaged in 8 title fights in the previous 9 months. Movies were made of previous title defenses the same year (Buddy Baer & Billy Conn, in closest proximity) and all of Louis' subsequent title defenses (Buddy Baer II, Abe Simon II, Billy Conn II, Tami Mauriello, Jersey Joe Walcott l & II). If no film exists, why WASN'T the fight filmed?
